International Conference on Linguistics and Language Studies 2018
The Fourth International Conference on Linguistics and Language Studies (ICLLS 2018) was held at the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, on 15–16 June 2018. ICLLS 2018 was organised by the Chartered Institute of Linguists Hong Kong Society (CIoLHKS), and co-organised by the School of General Education and Languages, Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong; the Department of English Language and Literature, Hong Kong Shue Yan University; the School of Humanities and Languages, Caritas Institute of Higher Education; and the School of Education and Languages, the Open University of Hong Kong.
The Conference was one of the key events of CIoLHKS. It successfully served as a major platform for professionals to disseminate their latest knowledge and research on language studies. The conference brought together over 60 academics, researchers and educators from around the world to share their expertise and insights in the parallel paper sessions. The conference also enabled networking and academic exchanges. Two distinguished scholars, Professor Roumyana Slabakova from the University of Southampton, UK and UiT The Arctic University of Norway and Professor Winnie Cheng from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, delivered keynote speeches on “Pedagogical Implications of the Bottleneck Hypothesis” and “Corpus linguistic approaches to critical discourse analysis” on the first and second day of the Conference respectively.
The Fifth International Conference on Linguistics and Language Studies (ICLLS 2019) has been scheduled for 25–26 June 2019 at Caritas Institute of Higher Education, Hong Kong. CIOL members are welcome to attend ICLLS2019, of which details are at http://iclls-2019.wixsite.com/iclls-2019.
